ROBOT

The first episode for Tom Baker, and an excellent one too ...

THE ARK IN SPACE

Doctor and his companions Sarah and Harry land on a seemingly deserted space station many years in the future. Station Nerva is not as empty as it appears, though, since on board are the cryogenically preserved survivors of Earth's destruction, as well as an insect-like alien race, the Wirrin, determined to use the humans--and the Doctor--as hosts to grow their monstrous larvae

THE SONTARAN EXPERIMENT

Tom Baker returns as the fourth doctor in THE SONTARAN EXPERIMENT in an eerie tale of a deserted Earth and the group of space travellers lured there by a phoney distress call

GENESIS OF THE DALEKS

One of the finest stories of the classic Doctor Who age, Genesis Of The Daleks finds Tom Baker at his peak in the lead role, and ultimately facing one of the most significant moral dilemmas of his era as the Time Lord. This is the adventure that goes right back to the roots of the Daleks, from their humble beginnings to the point where they become the Doctor’s most fearsome foes.

REVENGE OF THE CYBERMEN

Space station Nerva is beset by a plague and manned by only a few survivors. The good Doctor finds that the station has been taken over by the Cybermen. Will he be able to defeat them...

PLANET OF EVIL

The planet’s name is Zeta Minor, and when they arrive, the Doctor and Sarah discover that a geological expedition has gone wrong, with just one survivor left. So what’s happened? And what’s with the one who managed to stay alive?

PYRAMIDS OF MARS

The TARDIS materialises on Earth in the year 1911 inside an old priory owned by Egyptologist Marcus Scarman. Scarman has been possessed by Sutekh, last survivor of the god-like Osirans, who held prisoner inside a pyramid in Egypt by a signal trasnmitted from one on Mars. Sutekh desires his freedom and instructs Scarman to construct servicer robots - which look like Eygptian mummies - to build a missile with which to destroy the Martian pyramid

THE BRAIN OF MORBIUS

The planet Karn is home to a mystic black-robed Sisterhood, whose sacred flame produces an elixir of life. But it's also home to Solon, a fanatical scientist who is using the remnants of spaceship crash victims to put together a new body for the still-living brain of the executed Time Lord criminal Morbius. When the Doctor and Sarah Jane Smith (Elisabeth Sladen) arrive on the planet, Solon decides that the Doctor's head might just be what he needs to complete his dastardly work. A personal favourite

THE FACE OF EVIL

THE ROBOTS OF DEATH

The Doctor and Leela inevitably become embroiled in events, which soon turn into a sci-fi murder-mystery: imagine Isaac Asimov crossed with Agatha Christie in a Frank Herbert Dune-like setting. Add an undercover robot sent by "the company" and the claustrophobic, not to say deadly setting of the mining ship and there is a fascinating foreshadowing of Alien, too

THE TALONS OF WENG-CHIANG

The inimitable Doctor and his assistant Leela are confronted by sinister and seemingly inexplicable occurrences in this gripping thriller set in the shadowy depths of nineteenth century London. With the help of Professor Litefoot, the Doctor investigates the gruesome murder of a cabbie and the mysterious disappearances of young girls. Whilst being chased by giant rats and forced to pit his wits against an evil doll and a merciless illusionist, he comes face to face with his most deadly enemy to date: Magnus Greel - a fifty-first century war criminal posing as Weng Chiang, an ancient Chinese god

HORROR OF FANG ROCK

An engineer dies in mysterious circumstances on the lighthouse on the isle of Fang Rock. The Doctor and Leela soon discover clues that suggest that no-one is safe on Fang Rock

THE INVISIBLE ENEMY

Starring Tom Baker, The Invisible Enemy is a four-part story featuring the screen debut of K9, the robot canine (This box set also features the spin-off K9 and company). When The Doctor answers a distress call from a shuttle crew who have been infected with an intelligent virus, he too becomes contaminated. The only solution is to create clones of The Doctor and his companion Leela to enter his body and fight the virus.

IMAGE OF THE FENDAHL

When a tussle with a sonic time scan leads the Tardis back to Earth, the Doctor and Leela discover strange happenings in a nearby lab run by the secretive Doctor Fendelman.

THE INVASION OF TIME

A story plucked from the Tom Baker era of Doctor Who, The Invasion Of Time sees the Doctor heading back to Gallifrey, with Leela in tow (for the last time). His intention is to claim the presidency of the Time Lords, but some erratic behaviour (for a change!) sets a few alarm bells off. And when the Sontarans and Vardans appear on the scene, all hell seems set to break loose.

DESTINY OF THE DALEKS

Originally broadcast at the end of the 1970s, Destiny of the Daleks is notable for introducing a regenerated Romana, but across its four episodes we also find the seemingly-dead Davros with a little more life in him than the Doctor expected. And there’s also the small matter of the Daleks being locked in the midst of a long-running war, with seemingly no way to break the stalemate. In short, plenty for the Doctor to get his teeth into.

CITY OF DEATH

A peaceful holiday in Paris turns into a race through time for the Doctor and Romana when they uncover a plot by the evil Count to steal the Mona Lisa

THE LEISURE HIVE

The Doctor and Romana visit the Leisure Hive on the planet Argolis, the surface of which is uninhabitable following a twenty minute nuclear war between the Argolins and their enemies, the Foamsi. The Argolins themselves are now sterile. Pangol, the youngest, was created by the Tachyon Recreation Generator, a machine that runs games in the Hive. He now secretly plans to use the Generator, modified by an Earth scientist named Hardin, to recreate himself many times over, forming an army of duplicates to destroy the Foamsi. Pangol's mother Mena, the controller of the Hive, is meanwhile coming under pressure from a supposedly human finanacier, Brock, to sell it to the Foamasi

FULL CIRCLE (PART OF E-SPACE TRILOGY)

The Doctor discovers the TARDIS has fallen into E-Space and landed on the planet Alzarius. Its only inhabitants live on a vast, dilapidated spaceship which they have been attempting to repair for generations in order to return to their home planet. But Mistfall, a legendary time of terror, is coming again to Alzarius, and an eerie menace is rising out of the misty marshes. The Doctor and Romana must solve the riddle of the strange Marshmen if they are to have any chance of returning to their own universe.

STATE OF DECAY (PART OF E-SPACE TRILOGY)

Searching for a way out of E-Space, the Doctor and Romana, joined by a young stowaway, land on an Earth-like planet. Here the people live in fear of 'the Three who Rule'; cruel lords who live in a high tower overlooking their village. Suppressing all learning to keep their subjects ignorant and helpless, what chilling secret are these ruthless monarchs concealing? An ancient evil is rising once again and only the Doctor and Romana can destroy it.

WARRIORS' GATE (PART OF E-SPACE TRILOGY)

A strange creature forces its way into the TARDIS steering them to a white void occupied only by the ruins of an old building and a spaceship. This empty space is a gateway to the past and future and the creature responsible for taking them there is Biroc, a Tharil, an enslaved race. The gateway offers the only exit out of E-Sapce, but the void is contracting. Are the Doctor and his friends fated to spend eternity in E-Space? And what final shock revelation awaits the Doctor?

DOCTOR WHO - THE KEEPER OF TRAKEN / LOGOPOLIS / CASTROVALVA
The Keeper of Traken

A good value boxset that unites a loose trilogy of stories. The first story, "The Keeper Of Trakken", tells of a living statue that poses a threat to Traken World. In "Logopolis", Tom Baker’s final story in the title role, the Doctor battles both The Master, and the potential end of the Universe when the mathematicians of Logopolis are threatened. Davison’s first full story though, "Castrovalva"", is the weakest link of the set. Again it features The Master, and it follows the newly regenerated Doctor--in a very shaky state--as he heads for the supposedly peaceful retreat of the title, only to find, as you’d expect, that all isn’t as it seems.
