Doctor Who ...

Dr Who is, without doubt, the best sci-fi program ever broadcast. The time traveling Doctor was the longest running science fiction TV series that has ever graced a television set. It has now been re-introduced and is proving to be the best entertainment the BBC has produced in decades.

We have a dedicated area for Doctor Who for one reason only. The TV series was our inspiration as children to pursue scientific careers and ultimately become "Doctors" via the PhD route. It was programs like Doctor Who, and Star Trek to a lesser extent, which fueled our interest in space exploration, the existence of alien worlds and advanced technology.

Dr Who has the best spaceship ever seen in science fiction - the TARDIS. Think about it, a spaceship that can travel anywhere and arrive at any time in history. It makes the Starship Enterprise look like a push bike by comparison. The doctors have added a different flavour on each re-generation, the companions have usually all been brilliant, but best of all the baddies have always been great.

We're fortunate that there is an excellent selection of books and DVDs now available. We particularly enjoy seeing the older Dr Who's, Tomb of the Cybermen being an excellent example. There is also an example range of Dr Who toys and gadgets available
