DRACULA TRILOGY (DRACULA 1, ASCENSION, LEGACY)

European import. Plays on standard UK DVD players in English without subtitles. DVD Box set including Dracula I / II: Ascension / III: Legacy. Dracula 2000 (also known as Dracula 2001 in some countries) is a horror movie which attempts to transfer the story of Dracula into the setting of a modern teen horror film.

DRACULA

It gets off to an atmospheric start, as we meet Count Dracula in his shadowy castle in Transylvania. Eventually Dracula and his blood-sucking devotee meet their match in a vampire-hunter called Van Helsing. If the later sections of the film are undeniably stage bound and a tad creaky, Dracula nevertheless casts a spell, thanks to Lugosi's creepily lugubrious manner and the eerie silences of Browning's directing style.

DRACULA PRINCE OF DARKNESS

In this Hammer Productions take on the Dracula legend, travellers visit Carlstad, ignoring many warnings, and end up spending the night at a local castle. They soon find out that the gracious host, Klove has a hidden agenda. Apparently the castle's owner, Count Dracula, passed on 10 years before, but has been waiting for an opportunity such as this to return to the world. Bloodcurdling mayhem ensues....

BRAM STOKER'S DRACULA

Francis Ford Coppola's take on the Dracula myth is visually stunning and overflows with passionate seduction and Gothic romance. In Bram Stoker's Dracula, Coppola draws from the original source of the Dracula story to create a modern masterpiece. Gary Oldman's metamorphosis as Dracula, who grows from old to young, from man to beast, is breathtaking. Winona Ryder brings as much intensity to the character of the beautiful young woman who becomes the object of Dracula's devastating desire. Anthony Hopkins co-stars as the famed doctor who dares to believe in Dracula and then dares to confront him.

SCARS OF DRACULA

The Prince of Darkness casts his undead shadow once more over the cursed village of Kleinenberg when his ashes are splashed with bat's blood. And two innocent victims search for a missing loved one, loved to death by the mistress of Dracula. But after they discover his bloodstained corpse in Castle Dracula, the Vampire Lord's lustful vengeance begins.

DRACULA HAS RISEN FROM THE GRAVE

It took a long time for Hammer's 1958 version of Dracula to turn into a franchise, and it was ten years before Dracula Has Risen From the Grave, the third film in the series, continued where Dracula--Prince of Darkness (1965) left off. The vampire count is accidentally resurrected by the blood of a priest when Monsignor Muller exorcises Castle Dracula. The Lord of the Undead soon has the priest under his power, and sets about claiming the Monsignor's niece Maria as his bride.

TASTE THE BLOOD OF DRACULA

Taste the Blood of Dracula is one of the best of Christopher Lee's Dracula series for Hammer. A group of businessmen who, out of sight of their families, like nothing more than to frequent brothels and generally behave in sensation-seeking ways, are persuaded by Dracula's servant that summoning up the orthodontically-challenged aristocrat would be the ultimate thrill. They warily agree, purchasing relics for the necessary ritual from a shifty dealer but panic halfway through the proceedings and decide to kick their initiator to death instead. Unfortunately, it's too late, and Dracula materialises as they make good their escape, swearing to avenge the murder of his servant.

DRACULA AD 1972

In modern-day London a group of young people hold a black mass and unwittingly summon back the spirit of Dracula, who embarks on a reign of terror.
