In our view, science fiction is where you have some form of entertainment (film, games, books etc) that makes the leap from current scientific thinking into what could be sometime in the future - it maybe distant future. In essence, it's a guess. In some cases what's seen in science fiction is not possible at all. This is the point of this website - to explore what could be versus what will probably never be.
The main "Sci-Fi Topics" section covered different Sci-Fi themes that keep occuring in science fiction and explored them further. The site went on to explore two science fiction shows that featured a lot of the common themes, Doctor Who and Stargate. There are several other examples which were not feature, such as Star Trek and Star Wars. The reason for this is that in these the focus is much more on the story rather than the technologies used.
However, from the results of the surveys it is clear that there is a lack of understanding between what is science fiction and what is pure fantasy. This section covers a range of films where the authors consider them to be science fiction and present a case for each. All the examples were taken from the results of the surveys that the readers of this website submitted.
