We noticed that there are a lot of Top 10 lists on the internet, but our guess is that they represent personal views of the webmaster. As real scientists we would like to undetake a scientific experiment to survey your views and produce a real Top 10 table. We are pleased to announce that we have had sufficient responses to construct a results table, see links opposite..
The experiment looks at lead roles in particular, rather than actual films. Our theory is that you don't really need a great plot (We're not saying it isn't important, there are also classic Sci-Fi out there with terrific plot lines, such as HG Wells War of the Worlds and The Day the Earth Stood). We want to test the theory that it is an absolute must have to include:
1. A devious villain that the audience will love to hate, such as Darth Vader or the Daleks
2. A hero that the audience can aspire to be, such as Captain Kirk or the Doctor
3. A beautiful girl, such as Princess Leia or Seven of Nine, for the eye candy factor
