Death - Books

IS THERE LIFE AFTER DEATH?

Few books today can be termed ‘totally original’. This one in is a refreshing exception. Using the latest findings of quantum physics, neurology and consciousness studies the book suggests a simply amazing and totally original theory regarding what may subjectively take place at the point of death. The author proposes that consciousness literally falls out of time at the moment of death and continue to live within an inwardly generated version of reality similar to that suggested in films such as The Matrix and Vanilla Sky.

DEATH AND DYING

This book draws together a range of both classic and newly commissioned pieces on the multidisciplinary study of death and dying. Organized into five parts, the book begins with a general exploration of the meaning of death, before moving on to consider caring at the end-of-life. Further readings explore the moral and ethical dilemmas in the context of death and dying. The fourth part of the book examines the issue of grief and ritual after death, while the final part considers some of the issues that arise when researching in the field of death and dying.

If you are facing death, either personally or of a loved one, then perhaps the books below would be more suitable.

ON DEATH AND DYING

One of the most important psychological studies of the late twentieth century, "On Death and Dying" grew out of Dr. Elisabeth Kubler-Ross's famous interdisciplinary seminar on death, life, and transition. In this remarkable book, Dr. Kubler-Ross first explored the now-famous five stages of death: denial and isolation, anger, bargaining, depression, and acceptance. Through sample interviews and conversations, she gives the reader a better understanding of how imminent death affects the patient, the professionals who serve that patient, and the patient's family, bringing hope to all who are involved.
