Good Space Science DVDs
The science of Time travel and the cosmos is really fascinating. Unfortunately there are very few really good DVDs out there. The following represents the best of the bunch, in our opinion. This page is brought to you in association with Amazon.co.uk

THE PLANETS
It seems that no solar or planetary event which ever happened (or which may or may not have happened) is worthy of mention here without recourse to lovingly detailed shots of implausible-looking collisions and explosions. These come complete with sound effects, despite the fact that there is no sound in the vacuum of space, and are enhanced by a range of colours. This two-disc DVD is redeemed by both its subject matter and its sheer scope, offering all eight 50-minute episodes of the 1999 documentary series covering the history of the solar system and humanity's age-old desire to learn its secrets. |

APOLLO 11
One of the greatest moments of the 20th Century. On July 16th 1969 Apollo 11 lifted off from the Kennedy Space Center in Florida. The purpose of the Apollo 11 mission was to land men on the lunar surface and to return them safely to Earth. On board were astronauts Neil A. Armstrong, commander; Michael Collins, Command Module pilot; and Edwin E. Aldrin Jr., Lunar Module pilot. 76 hours after launch, the spacecraft was inserted into lunar orbit. Armstrong and Aldrin entered the Lunar Module preparing for descent to the lunar surface. Twenty four hours later the two spacecraft were undocked and the Command and Service Modules separated from the Lunar Module. On the 20th July 1969, after four days in Space, the now legendary astronaut Neil Armstrong became the first man to set foot on the surface of the moon, uttering the unforgettable and now famous statement, ‘One small step for man, one giant leap for mankind’ This momentous occasion of Neil Armstrong, shortly followed by Buzz Aldrin, setting foot on the ‘Sea of Tranquillity’ from the lunar module ‘Eagle’, was broadcast live to a staggering 600 million people around the world. This ninety minute feature length ‘award-winning’ documentary, voiced by TV’s ‘Dr Who’, Tom Baker, is a fascinating and compelling insight into the story of Apollo 11 and man’s conquest of space and the race for the moon |
