Carrie (1976)
Carrie White is the kind of girl most people overlook—quiet, awkward, and painfully shy. Raised by her fanatically religious mother, she’s been sheltered from the world, especially from the realities of growing up. So when she experiences her first period in the school locker room, she panics, unaware of what’s happening. Her classmates mock her cruelly, and the trauma sets something strange in motion.
Carrie begins to discover she has telekinetic powers—the ability to move objects with her mind. At first, it’s subtle. A flicker of rage, a shattered mirror. But as her confidence grows, so does her power. Meanwhile, a few classmates try to make amends. Sue Snell, feeling guilty, convinces her boyfriend Tommy to take Carrie to prom. It’s a gesture of kindness, but not everyone shares her goodwill.
At the prom, Carrie blooms. For the first time, she feels accepted, even beautiful. But the night takes a horrific turn when a cruel prank—pig’s blood dumped on her in front of the entire school—shatters her fragile joy. Humiliated and heartbroken, Carrie unleashes her fury. Her powers erupt in a storm of fire, destruction, and vengeance, turning the prom into a nightmare no one will ever forget.
In the end, Carrie’s story is a tragic symphony of pain, power, and the devastating consequences of cruelty. It’s not just a horror tale—it’s a haunting reflection on isolation, adolescence, and the monstrous things people do when they think no one’s watching.
Carrie's period scene really made an impact on me when I watched it.
