Clash of the Titans (1981)
In a world where gods toy with mortals like pieces on a celestial chessboard, Perseus is born of divine scandal—his mother Danaë impregnated by Zeus and cast into the sea by her jealous father, King Acrisius. But fate, as always, has its own plans. Perseus survives, grows strong, and is soon swept into a mythic quest that pits him against monsters, curses, and the wrath of the gods themselves.
His journey begins in Joppa, where Princess Andromeda is bound by a cruel riddle and a monstrous suitor—Calibos, the deformed son of the sea goddess Thetis. With gifts from Olympus—a sword, a shield, and a helmet of invisibility—Perseus must outwit Calibos, tame the winged horse Pegasus, and face the dreaded Medusa, whose gaze turns flesh to stone. All this to save Andromeda and prevent the release of the Kraken, a towering sea beast summoned to destroy the city.
With stop-motion magic from Ray Harryhausen and a cast that includes Laurence Olivier as Zeus himself, the film is a sweeping blend of myth and movie magic. It’s not just a tale of heroism—it’s a celebration of destiny, defiance, and the eternal clash between mortal will and divine whim.
